FAQ

WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?

Occupational Therapy is the use of every day activities (i.e., occupations) to promote health, wellness and independence. Occupational Therapists have diverse training which can include; Gerentology, Physical Rehabilitation, Environmental Modification, Mental Health, and Community Mobility. Our providers at LiveAbility have special interest or certification in Cancer Care, Lymphatic Care, Pelvic Health, and Aging In Place.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT ?

LiveAbility offers a 1:1 care model for specialty outpatient services including pelvic health, lymphatic care, as well as cancer care. A 1:1 care model means that you will receive you entire plan of care with your provider from evaluation to discharge. Your provider will get to know you and what is important to you. We believe that each patient is the expert of their own body and we listen. Each client at LiveAbility is important to us and it is our hope that each client move on from our facility better for the experience and knowledge they have gained. This 1:1 care model is often only employed in clinics that do not accept insurance. We respect providers decision to refuse insurance. For most providers accepting insurance is confusing, time consuming, and often makes it difficult for small clinics, providing quality care, to remain viable. We are proud to accept insurance, by doing so we are able serve members of our community who may not otherwise have access to this level of care, or these specialty services. We accept several major insurance payers including medicare and medicaid. Please check our cost page or call for full list of in-network insurance payers accepted at LiveAbility.

WHAT TO EXPECT

No matter what general or specialty service you have contacted LiveAbility to assist you with, we are committed to making all of our clients feel comfortable and welcome. Our primary goal for our initial encounter is to discuss your physicians referral if provided, uncover what assistance you seek, and to ensure we develop shared expectations for moving forward in all areas of your care including physical, emotional, financial, and time considerations. The treatment plans and protocols look different for each of our specialties as well as for individual clients. If you have any questions or concerns about what to expect in your upcoming appointment please feel free to reach out to us.

WHAT IS LYMPHATIC CARE?

Our Lymphatic system is a complex system, intricately linked to our immune function. This system turns on as a response to genetic, acute, and chronic events. The lymphatic system is an important part of our bodies healing process, however, when it is not operating effectively we can experience increased swelling, pain, range of motion limitations, and we can develop functional impairments. Manual lymphatic treatments are gentle, yet profoundly effective at managing lymphatic fluid.

WHAT IS PELVIC HEALTH?

Pelvic Health relates to the best possible functioning and management of the musculoskeletal pelvic floor, bowel and bladder function, and reproductive organs, in both men and women. Positive pelvic health informs physical, mental, social, and sexual well-being.

WHAT IS MANUAL THERAPY ?

Manual Therapy is a hands on treatment approach. It is successful at treating the soft tissues, muscles, and joints of the body. Manual Therapy can reduce pain, increase joint mobility, and reduce inflammation. Helping you get back to doing the things in life that are important to you.

WHAT IS AGING-IN- PLACE ?

Aging-In-Place is a term used to describe the ability to safely live independently in your existing home as you get older. Aging In Place has many benefits. As an Occupational Therapist I can collaborate with you in identifying safety concerns and assist in increasing function and functionality in your home, enabling you to continue to successfully participate in your daily activities within your home and community.
